At Webility we believe you should have as much control of your web site and domain as you want.  We have the latest Extend Control Panel on every domain and it gives the owner of the domain a powerful backend to control just about every facet of the domain and hosted site.
 
Each individual domain hosted by Webility has its own Control Panel as pictured below. Please note that depending on your hosting agreement you may see all or only some of these features!!!

Firstly the top of the Extend Control Panel:
 
Starting at top right:
 
  • Home - brings you back to this main screen from wherever you are
  • Logout - logs you out
  • Help - takes you to the help pages
  • Domain Name - the domain name link opens up the actual domain in a new window and is handy for the owner that has a number of domains to remind him which one is being changed.
 
Coming down the right hand side, we have Account Info, Stats, FTP Details, and contact details for Webility.  These are all useful information sources about your domain name and hosting space.

In the main central section we have different control panel areas for different functions:
  •  File Manager – This is a browser based FTP script; it is a bit like Windows Explorer but is not as user friendly, sorry. This allows you to see the directory structure of your site and to add and remove files and folders as required. A word of caution, once deleted files cannot be recovered unless you have a backup!!!
  • Additional FTP Accounts – This is a way to give FTP access to your site to a number of people and to give them access to only certain parts that they may be working on or need FTP access to.  It is a great feature that it allows you to setup FTP accounts and limit access to specific folders so you don’t have to give over full FTP access to your Domain.
  • Backup/Restore – Does what it says on the tin!!!!
  • Webbuilder – This opens up in anew browser window and is a feature packed template driven site building package, hundreds of templates and pre-scripted pages like contact us, catalogue pages, about us etc. Sitebuilder is okay to use if you are not really bothered about a great looking site, there is no substitute for a professional designed and coded site.

The various links in this section allow you to set up email boxes, forwarding, auto responders, and spam filters.

This section allows you to install a number of recording systems to allow you see how much your site is being used.  You be limited on the number of these you can use depending on your hosting agreement.

From here you can setup sub domains, not something that is used very often, MySQL Databases, change passwords, password protect certain directories etc.  This section contains a number of very useful tools for user access.

This section is very seldom accessed by any user we deal with but includes a number of diagnostic tools associated with your web site!

This is only useful if you are designing your own site as  there are literally millions of pictures, clip arts, banners, logos etc.

The e-commerce section is packed with a number of useful applications if you are running any type of shop on your site. SSL is used for creating secure socket layers for secure payment processing amongst other things. Zen Cart is very easy to use and quick to implement. osCommerce and Agora shopping carts are again fairly simple, well supported online, and easy to use. The last link is Accept Credit cards.

The final part of the Extend  Control Panel contains a massive selection of preloaded FREE CGI scripts.  Installation is quick and easy with most of these, just click the desired CGI script and you go to the installation page.  One of our favourites in here is the Wordpress Blog.
